Stieg Larsson’s Millennium series has taken the world by storm these past few years. The trilogy consists of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest; all three of which have been made into feature films in Sweden. Recently, David Fincher directed a remake of the first film in the series, but fans can own all three of the original Swedish films on Blu-ray with the Dragon Trilogy. In addition to the extended versions of all three films, there’s an extra disc filled with bonus content on Larson and the series.

QUALITY:
Each film has its own disc and the quality is absolutely fantastic. The picture is sharp and any grain is barely noticeable. You can watch the films in their original Swedish language with English subtitles (recommended) or there’s an English dub as well. The only problem I found with the Trilogy is that they split up each film into two parts. It plays out like a mini-series, with credits at the end of each part and a recap at the beginning of Part 2. Even worse, there’s no option to play them back to back without having to go to the main menu and selecting the next section. It’s a shame, and I have no idea why it was done in this manner.

Overall, the Dragon Tattoo Trilogy is excellent for anyone who is a fan of the series. The extended versions of each film give provide more insight into the books than their theatrical counterparts, and the bonus features provide a good two hours’ worth of entertainment. Both the picture and audio quality shine on Blu-ray and are an improvement from their DVD counterpart. Even if you already own any of the films previously, the Dragon Tattoo Trilogy is worth picking up.
