It’s been over ten years since Trigun has seen the light of day but the series returns with an all new movie featuring all new villains and heroes. The story begins with a bank robbery. Notorious bank robber Gasback and his henchmen are about to bail with the banks cash when Vash interferes. In doing so he somewhat foils a mutiny among Gasback's men, they run off with the loot, and in effect saves Gasback’s life. Will there be consequences?

Twenty years later we find Gasback’s men living it up off the money they stole from the bank. Enter Gasback in a good old fashioned western style, looking for revenge and tracking down his old crew one by one. The final stage is set in a massive city whose mayor is one of Gasback’s old cronies. The mayor, hearing rumors of Gasback’s wrath traveling his way sends word about a bounty on Gasback’s head and that he’ll be coming soon. Among the mercenaries and bodyguards that arrive in the city to collect the bounty are Vash and his new “friend” Amelia, a woman with a particular grudge to bear against Gasback himself. It’s only a matter of time until Gasback reaches the city gates.

QUALITY:
You have to remember that the series is a spaghetti western with a bit of steam punk mixed in so the overall look of the movie is a bit faded, like you would expect from a western. Vash’s red coat is magnificently poppy but I wasn’t blown away by the color palette. Line definition is strong which gives the characters their own dimensions when it comes to depth against background animation and consistency in picture quality is solid. No banding or aliasing or video noise to speak of. Audio is amazing in that cinematic experience kind of way. Explosions resonate well and offer up a deep bass sound that will rattle the pit of your stomach. As far as a full spectrum approach Trigun manages to make good use of a decent surround sound system offering up some effects noise in the left and right side speakers as well as an occasional bit of effect or background noise in the rear speakers. Its not mind blowing amazing but it puts the films point across as far as slight immersion.
